cosas cosas
The tropi-goth pop duo cosas cosas is a collaboration between New York-based drummer/producer Rosana Cabán and vocalist/composer Gabo Camnitzer.
Mother Courage EP
Both accomplished musicians and educators, Cabán and Camnitzer first met in 2020 at Columbia University, as professor and student, respectively. Quickly realizing they were peers, they began collaborating on mixes, masters, and original creations. Songs like “7/11,” a synth-pop ballad examining alienation produced by the gig economy, and “Time-Lapse Universe,” a rumination on domesticity over a tresillo beat, were born from these sessions.
Before cosas cosas, Camnitzer was a mainstay of the early aughts Swedish music scene, playing in the bands Glenn & Glenn, Gabo and the Wartels, Love is All, Ego Death, and Dream Cheese. Cabán, a former member of Psychic Twin, has performed in museums, galleries, and over 100 music venues across North America, and worked as an assistant engineer to Jacob Portrait from 2020-2021.
cosas cosas draws inspiration from the 90s trip hop of Solex and Cibo Matto, as well as contemporary electronic musicians like Rosalía, Tainy, Arca, Ela Minus and Caribou. They are currently working on a full length album.
